Main purpose of the job

The ICT/Datacomm Internal Account Manager (also known as Inside Sales Rep) is responsible for supporting the overall customer-centric strategy of the organization and is the core contact in the creation of a superior customer experience for all customers. The IAM serves as the primary point of contact for customers, responsible for managing, expediting, and coordinating the process by which customers' orders are entered into the ERP and ultimately delivered to the customer in a timely manner with the correct items, quantities and pricing. The IAM reports to the branch manager, works cross-functionally with other departments, and serves as the nexus of activity for meeting our customers' needs. The Internal Account Manager is a member of the overall sales team, responsible for supporting the rest of the sales team in achieving the ICT/Datacomm division's strategic imperatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support efforts to implement the organization's strategic plans for growing ICT/Datacomm sales opportunities and territories.
  • Foster and nurture healthy relationships with customers through consistent, professional regular contact with customers
  • Receive inbound purchase orders via all channels of communication, enter orders into the ERP and track orders from entry through closure
  • Ensure that orders are entered into the ERP in a timely manner
  • Support the organization's efforts to reactivate inactive customers, increase sales in other customers and acquire new customers through providing a truly superior customer experience.
  • Demonstrate capacity to manage multiple, ongoing and competing demands through strong follow through, excellent time management, and commitment to customer service.
  • Work in partnership with quotations and project management team to support customers' long-term, ongoing projects
  • Responsible for working with other Internal Account Managers in the branch to support acquisition of new customers
  • Coordinate with other salespersons to meet the needs of all customers
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to grow their personal sales skills and abilities.
  • Mentor and support colleagues as they grow professionally
  • Responsible for supporting collaborative relationships with Account Managers to support the customers through the entire customer life cycle (prospect, acquisition, service and sales resolution)
  • Operate cross functionally with purchasing, pricing, logistics, operations, accounting and finance to support the organization's customer centric strategy.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with associates in other functional areas to support the creation of an extraordinary customer experience.
  • Maintain thorough product knowledge through ongoing education and development
  • Support introduction of new products
  • Support cross-selling and upselling of products to grow overall sales growth at the company

Minimum work experience requirements:

  • 1-2 years' experience in a customer-facing role
  • 3-5 years' experience in sales
  • Preferred prior experience in the electrical industry

Other skills/experience desired:

  • ICT/Datacomm product familiarity
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Ability to grow and maintain relationship with any individual, irrespective of the background and type of personality
  • Possession of good sense of humor
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong creativity and critical thinking abilities
  • Ability to work with recent technological applications relating to daily tasks
  • Strong detail-orientation and top-level self-organization
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Willingness to put in more working hours, even at odd times
  • Possess reliable problem-solving ability
