Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Quality Tech I, Analyst at our Torrance, CA location. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we're the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines. Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.

Performs inspection of resale products and documentation, including the preparation, analysis, and reporting of Data as it relates to customer and supplier quality performance, and type test reports up from QA Lab results and Inspection results. This position reports directly to the Quality Supervisor.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional and visual inspection on resale product, its packaging and accompanying documentation at receiving, inventory, and final inspection stages.
  • Identify and react to quality-related problems identified by the customer, supplier or from within the company. Make necessary recommendations, incorporate action or change/initiate systems and/or procedure that assure compliance with customer, company, regulatory and standardized requirements.
  • Type test reports up from QA Lab results and Inspection results.
  • Perform customer purchase order/contracts reviews to identify quality requirements pertaining to contracts as required. Ensure that all documentation, certification/inspection reports, making, packaging, source inspection and applicable Supplier Release are identified and acceptable.
  • Provide documentation and certification for the product shipments and after-shipment customer requests as required.
  • Participate as assigned on Process Improvement and other Continuous Improvement Teams.
  • Coordinate customer Source Inspection and/or perform Designated Source Quality Representative functions for various customers, as required.
  • Provide customer service by responding to and investigation inquired regarding certifications and other issues, as required.
  • Analyze and comply statistical reports reflecting supplier quality requirements, as required.
  • Respond to customer requests for corrective and preventive actions in a timely manner by investigating and determining root cause, corrective and preventive measures to eliminate and preclude deficiencies. Coordinate team efforts and monitors trends, as required.
  • May issue and track internal and supplier corrective and preventive action request; monitors and follow-up for implementation and effectiveness.
  • May issue and/or disposition RMA's (Return Material Authorization) to customers and generate CER's (Customer Expectation Report).
  • Process and investigate customers returned good, as required. May be required to determine and identify the validity and cause of return. Maintain records, logs, paperwork and may distribute monthly summary reports.
  • Process scrap and returns to suppliers, as required.
  • Expedite and update internal rejections for customer MRB (Materials Review Board) dispositions, as appropriate.
  • Complete and reply to mail-in customer Quality System Surveys, as required.
  • Train others in-group perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Process department or company request for technical specifications and publications, as required.
  • Process CER's with corrective and preventive action, as required.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Quality Assurance Management.
  • Interact with shipping department, engineer, quality, lab, etc. and customers.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 0-1 years of aerospace industry experience
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
