Pay Range Information
Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate's qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage.
Position Summary Information


Job Description Summary
The Executive in Residence ( EIR) is a senior-level executive and experienced business leader who is responsible for providing guidance, mentorship, and strategic advice to build growth, innovation, and development for the Argyros College of Business and Economics. The EIR role varies, but generally, their responsibilities include guest lecturing, building networks and bridges with industry, developing talent, mentoring students, and developing strategic projects. For this position, the EIR will review the graduate programs and develop a strategy that supports the College's strategic plan and long-term growth. The EIR will determine the path to enhance visibility and recognition and assist in increasing applications and enrollments.
Responsibilities
Internal Review and Analysis

  • Gather and analyze data about the MBA Program market.
  • Assess and benchmark local and national competitors' strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
  • Determine the trends and sectors in higher education for MBA programs.
  • Define how ACBE's products are perceived relative to competitors.
  • Gather and analyze data about audiences and gain an understanding of the needs and preferences of the target audience.
  • Review the inquiries, application and enrollment data including response times and subsequent follow-up.
  • Conduct trend analysis up to the previous five years.
  • Study those who applied, were accepted, but chose a competitor.
  • Study those who submitted an inquiry but did not apply.
  • Conduct student focus groups. Understand their decision factors and determine levels of satisfaction.
  • Develop a report on consumer and student insights.
  • Create a graduate student journey map for the various programs.


Strategic Project Development

  • Advise on business development strategies
  • Define how the brand or program products will be perceived in the market relative to competitors.
  • Create program specific personas to increase engagement and satisfaction.
  • Create student success stories in congruence with journey mapping.
  • Advise on a strategy including online tactics.
  • Develop a roadmap to execute the marketing strategies.
  • Create a human resource plan to implement strategies.
  • Develop strategy for budget deployment (i.e. Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram)
  • Create a roadmap for email or text communications for Graduate Program staff.
  • Establish metrics and KPIs to track the effectiveness of these efforts.

Required Qualifications


  • MBA degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • At least 10 years of experience in marketing principles, strategies, and tactics..
  • Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and work with diverse individuals and groups at all organizational levels, both within and outside the University.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to prepare collateral.
  • Skills in using analytics platforms to measure campaign performance and make data-driven decisions.
  • Innovative thinking to develop unique and effective campaigns.
  • Skills in building and maintaining client relationships, understanding their needs, and delivering results.
  • Experience in a higher education setting.

Desired Qualifications
  • Prior teaching experience.
