Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for an Inside Sales Manager for our Electrical Cable and Flexible Conduit (ECFC) Division, based in New Bedford, MA. This position will report to the National Director of Sales - ECFC. The Inside Sales Manager's primary focus will be driving the strategic commercial activities in his/her Region that result in goal attainment. Key to success is developing an understanding of the market in terms of competitive activities, pricing, customer loyalties and profitability to make accurate commercial recommendations and judgments as well as being able to interface with all team stakeholders in a very fast, demanding and time pressure sensitive scenario.

The ideal candidate will have 5 years of sales and/or related electrical industry experience and a bachelor's degree in business or engineering preferred.

What you'll do



  • Proactively manage agents and grow business in the territory by identifying key customers and developing them to a product category mix in line with territory growth budget and SDP initiatives. Execute and track utilizing Action Plan.
  • Work closely with the territory's Agents to drive, administer, and enforce the pricing strategy and guidelines as developed by the National Director of Sales and/or VP/GM.
  • Maximize volume and margin using available tools, negotiations, and analytical skills in line with the strategic focus and plan.
  • Prepare customer quotations and conduct follow up in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a high degree of responsiveness and urgency relative to activities in your market/territory.
  • Coordinate and share market feedback, intelligence, and data points with other inside sales team managers, as well as the National Director of Sales.
  • Attend and present at weekly sales review meetings scheduled by the National Director of Sales and including the Outside Sales RVP's as well as the VP/GM and President.
  • Interact closely with Atkore RVP's, RSM's, TSM's and Sales Leads to maximize market opportunities.
  • Drive and support Strategic Business Unit Strategic Initiatives.
  • Participate in annual budget planning as it applies to your territory relative to sales and inventory needs.
  • Participate in regular meetings with the National Director of Sales and the rest of the team relative to forecast changes and spread pressures impacting any existing budget and/or current forecast.
  • Manage, channel and direct various requests that occur during business such as literature, technical and inventory inquiries.
  • Keep accurate records relative to quotation history, long term quotes, multiple release orders and price sheet maintenance.
  • Travel two times annually within your market to support strong agent and customer relationships.
  • Participate in Kaizens and similar events, as necessary.
  • Assist, as needed, Commercial Excellence activities such as Unearned Cash Discounts and late pay issues.
  • Group cover by Inside Sales Team when other teammate is unavailable due to vacation, illness, or meeting attendance.


What you'll bring:



  • Bachelor's degree in business or engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years sales and/or related electrical industry experience.
  • Demonstrated successful marketplace track record working with the electrical distribution channel preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, writing, communication, negotiating, presentation, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in the use of Windows Applications: Teams, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint & Word. Knowledge of Salesforce.com, JD Edwards platform and Tableau is a plus.
  • Team player with a personal drive to achieve corporate and business unit goals.
  • Ability to learn or have a working knowledge of pertinent National Electric Code (NEC) fundamentals.
  • Excellent time management skills: must have the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and assign responsibilities accordingly.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills to drive initiatives.
  • Experience in a fast paced, high volume manufacturing environment.

Within 3 months, you'll:



  • Complete your Atkore immersion program.

Within 6 months, you'll:



  • Fully perform the functions of your role.
  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve company goals.
  • Analyze market trends and competitors to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Communicate sales goals, strategies, and performance updates to stakeholders.
  • Manage sales process, pipelines and ensure timely follow-up on leads.
  • Identify ways to strengthen the team's commitment to Atkore's core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect and Excellence.


Within 12 months, you'll:



  • Promote a culture of teamwork and accountability within a diverse organization.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance sales efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in sales management.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
  • Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Participate in continuous improvement teams, including Kaizens and LDM.
