Job Description

The Department of Technology & Innovation is currently searching for an Applications Administrator II. First review of candidates will begin on July 29, 2024. Additional duties include:

    Monitors software application(s) and publishes maintenance schedule; completes assignments, which may include process automation or enhancements with limited oversight by more experienced staff; ensures application availability while facilitating growth in usage and increased functionality; participates in all phases of a project development life cycle; sets up administrator and service accounts; works with vendor.
  • Responds to end-user questions, inquiries, and ad-hoc requests to include report design; works directly with end-users in evaluating solutions, fulfilling requests, and resolving issues; recommends solutions to ensure system availability; provides training assistance for users; provides hands on guidance to the user community of application changes and enhancements; creates, reviews, and maintains documentation related to system software use and support including processes.
  • Collects, edits, and maintains data; ensures data is accurate, current, and complete through quality assurance procedures; develops new, and enhances existing, datasets through various techniques such as process automation and workflow modifications; monitors application for compliance to IT standards and policies.
  • Monitors and helps ensure system availability and performance; analyzes and resolves problems; conducts tests and monitors activities; analyzes system capacity and modifies procedures to solve interface problems; collaborates with cross functional teams to maintain efficiency, consistency and achieve successful use of application.
  • Creates, reviews, and maintains documentation related to system software use and support including processes; prioritizes regularly occurring issues and methods of resolution.
  • Participates in system design reviews and communicates with technical and non-technical audiences; regularly monitors event logs and error messages to analyze issues that may hamper application performance.


Job Requirements

Minimum Job Requirements:

An Associate's degree in CIS, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business or other relevant field of study and two (2) years of information technology or relevant experience are required.

Experience may be substituted for education. Education may be substituted for experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Competence with one or more of the following is preferred:

  • Powershell Scripting
  • Git related version control systems
  • Continuous Integration/Countinuous Deployment Processes
  • Test Automation Tools
  • Containerization

This position is currently eligible to work in a hybrid work environment with both onsite and remote work. Residency within the Kansas City-Overland Park-Kansas City, MO-KS Combined Statistical Area, which generally includes the Kansas counties of Johnson, Wyandotte, Leavenworth, Miami, and Linn, and the Missouri counties of Jackson, Clay, Platte, Cass, and Ray, is required.
