Purpose

Provide individual and group career coaching services to Liberal Arts students. Serve as primary Career Coach for undergraduate Liberal Arts students. Manage and instruct credit based internship courses year round. Our goal is to help Liberal Arts students understand the various opportunities available to them and to help articulate the value of their Liberal Arts education.

Responsibilities
  • Career Coaching Provide Liberal Arts students comprehensive individual and group career coaching services, including: defining career goals; developing career plans; navigating and understanding a variety of industries; internship assistance; resume and cover letter critiques; and connecting students with resources. Provide both case and behavioral mock interview services. Share information and collaborate with recruiting team to bridge student and employer needs.
  • Course Management Serve as course coordinator to manage enrollment process for internship courses by verifying internships. Meet university recruiting guidelines and granting registration authorizations. Instruct internship courses by evaluating assignments submitted by students and maintaining contact with site supervisors to ensure adequate completion of internship. Maintain and update Canvas course pages. Provide support and flexibility to internship course students through Canvas and appointments. Manage major specific Canvas resource pages.
  • Program Management Plan, coordinate, and present specialized programming focused on careers for liberal arts majors. Develop, implement, and coordinate a variety of workshops, events, and career preparation opportunities. Network and collaborate with employers, student groups, and other campus constituencies to promote career connections. Serve as a point person for outreach events to promote Liberal Arts Career Services programming.
  • Administrative and Team Support Represent Liberal Arts Career Services in on-campus and off-campus meetings. Research and create career-related content for student, alumni, and employer collateral.Assist career services staff with office events, including career fairs, contributing to the success of the team as a collaborative partner. Attend weekly staff and professional development meetings. Enter and maintain electronic coaching notes in office database in a timely fashion.
  • Other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in career services, or a role performing a variety of career coaching, recruiting, advising and/or counseling activities. Demonstrated interest in working with undergraduate students in a career or mentoring capacity. Excellent project management abilities, attention to detail, resource gathering, interpersonal skills, and oral and written communication skills. Comfortable presenting to large groups virtually and in-person. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience using Zoom.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree and experience working in higher education career services. More than the required experience. Knowledge of skills developed in a liberal arts curriculum. Knowledge of international student employment authorization. Experience creating internship programming. Experience teaching or coaching students in an academic or career setting. Experience using Canvas, and Handshake. Knowledge of UT Austin Seat Management System (SMS), DocuSign and Mainframe.

Salary Range

$55,000

Employment Eligibility:

Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
