Position Description
Abides by the Standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC) and adheres to official coding guidelines and the Values Based Culture of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Reviews official medical records with physician/healthcare provider documentation and assigns appropriate codes for all physician/healthcare provider services from current editions of official coding sources; ensures accurate, complete, and timely code assignments for all physician/healthcare provider services to include procedural, diagnosis, and supplies in all places of service.

Major/Essential Functions
Reviews reports with accuracy by assigning ICD-10 and CPT codes. Make sure all billing is submitted within a timely manner. Work all TES edits, and maintain required CEU's

Required Qualifications
High School graduate or equivalency and three years of coding and reimbursement experience, preferably in a physician group, hospital, or academic health care setting. Knowledge of the CPT, ICD-CM, ICD-10, and HCPCS nomenclature. Current coding certification from the American Associate of Professional Coders (AAPC) or the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Certification to remain current during term of employment
