Huntsman is seeking a Laboratory Technician supporting the Polyurethanes Division located in Terol - Houston Port Site. This position will report to the Manager Quality Assurance.

Job Scope

Performs laboratory analysis utilizing various instruments for process and product control. Responsible for providing analytical data to process units and shipping to ensure control is maintained throughout the plant.

As the Laboratory Technician you will:

  • Coordinate and organize laboratory work to meet the immediate and anticipated requirements of the Operations and Shipping Departments
  • Coordinates efforts to review, re-test, and verify any questionable product quality and rendering final judgement of such quality and classification.
  • Test and analyze product samples using equipment and instruments such as Karl Fisher and hydroxyl auto titrators, pH meters, AA spectrometer, GC, FTIR, FTnIR, computers, and printers, etc
  • Perform special laboratory analysis and work on special projects and assignments as required.
  • Recording and reporting test analyses to appropriate personnel and ensuring the accuracy of analytical testing results and verifying such results.
  • Ensure the accuracy and verification of analytical test results.
  • Perform maintenance of laboratory equipment including the reporting of malfunction of equipment, troubleshooting and performing repairs as necessary.
  • Monitors safe handling, identification, storage, and removal of hazardous waste streams resulting from production activities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of safety practices for laboratory and for chemicals used and handled (MSDS, etc.); responsible for the adherence to safety instructions applicable to work performed and for adherence to general safety instructions applications.
  • Maintain current knowledge and understanding of methods of test, techniques, procedures, skills, etc. as related to all laboratory jobs.
  • Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed. If applicable, ability to work overtime may be needed to ensure required staffing capacity to meet daily production objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with team members with different backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Assists other employees in accomplishments of Huntsman company goals. Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
  • Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company. Participates in and completes company-required training programs.

Required Qualifications:

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications:

    • Associate degree in laboratory technology or chemistry, Biochemistry or equivalent/higher degree level. May be substituted with High School diploma and 3 years' experience as a Laboratory Technician.
