Huntsman is seeking a Production Operative Trainee supporting the Polyurethanes Division located in Houston Port, Texas. This position will report to the Production Manager.

Job Scope

Through adherence to all established Operational and EH&S policies, procedures, and practices; trains with a qualified operator to perform all operational tasks necessary to achieve operator progression of the Houston Port TEROL operation.

As the Production Operative Trainee, you will:

  • Performs necessary work of an Operator C of the outside operation of operating, startup and shutdown of process equipment for the production of quality and on-spec products.
  • Maintains current, detailed knowledge and understanding required of an Operator C of process unit equipment, unit operations, principles or operating methods used in the process and the effects of such operations on equipment involved.
  • Makes periodic rounds of units, checking and/or adjusting process equipment to ensure proper operation, draws product samples for laboratory analysis and bases on laboratory analysis makes necessary changes in operating conditions.
  • Completes reports and records data such as charts, operating data, Work Orders, and Safe Work Permits, using prescribed forms
  • Maintains good housekeeping habits to ensure the cleanliness, neatness, and order of work area and equipment.
  • Monitors the safe handling, identification, storage, and removal of waste streams resulting from production activities.
  • Completes all training assignments as assigned.
  • Participates in site safety and environmental programs.
  • Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed. If applicable, ability to work overtime may be needed to ensure required staffing capacity to meet daily production objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with team members with different backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Assists other employees in accomplishments of Huntsman company goals. Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
  • Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company. Participates in and completes company-required training programs.

Required Qualifications:

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree (2+ years) in Process Technology with 1+years of related work experience (Associate degree can be substituted with a high school diploma and 6+ months experience in a petrochemical plant.

Skills and knowledge:

  • Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs.
