Counseling and Psychological Services:

Counseling & Psychological Services is home to an interdisciplinary team of full-time psychologists, social workers, mental health counselors, treatment coordinators, and support staff who are fully committed to the success and well-being of our students.

The Opportunity:

The University of Central Florida Counseling and Psychological Services department is hiring for a vacant Medical Secretary I position. This position reports to the Administrative Assistant III, Director, or other higher-level administrators.

This is an auxiliary-funded position. Employment is subject to the availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.

Responsibilities:



  • Serve as the first contact for Counseling and Psychological Services clientele and the campus community at large. As such will create a welcoming, nurturing, respectful environment for clients.

  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.

  • Electronically check in arriving clients, process all initial electronic client data; as well as follow-up contact as needed and/or assigned; and schedule/reschedule appointments.

  • Assist clients with electronic check-in processes and procedures.

  • Observe client behaviors and report to Counselor anything of significance.

  • Provide primary telephone coverage; assess nature of client calls; determine if immediate assistance by a counselor is indicated; create a professional image of CAPS through responsive, respectful telephone behaviors.

  • Follow established CAPS opening and closing protocol.

  • Provide support to professional staff and CAPS projects as requested promptly.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.




Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 0+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced working environment.

  • Ability to manage high call volume while performing other front desk duties.

  • Ability to communicate and coordinate with individuals from varied backgrounds and experiences.

  • Ability to maintain boundaries as related to confidentiality. Self-starter and ability to quickly learn new policies and procedures; and computer software programs.

  • Ability to prioritize assigned projects.
