As the Registered Nurse Preceptor you would perform activities related to orientation and continuing education of the staff.

The RN I Preceptor job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develops an individual orientation plan in collaboration with Education Consultant on an ongoing basis.
  • Assists with Orientation Record and Orientation Competency Validation documentation.
  • Provides timely and ongoing feedback regarding orientee progress to orientee, Education Consultant, and Manager.
  • Assists with annual learning needs assessment on unit.
  • Assists staff in coordination of department continuing education.
  • Coordinates annual completion of Competency Validation of staff as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduate of school of professional nursing of an accredited college.

Experience: Two years' experience in clinical discipline required.

Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure. BSN Preferred. Obtain CPR, and as needed ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications.

Other: Computer skills required for electronic medical record (EPIC). For Psychiatry and Behavioral Health De-escalation training must be successfully completed within four months of hire and then maintained going forward. Successfully complete orientation and competency requirements.
