As the Solution Engineering Senior Manager, you will lead a team that builds and manages a suite of Systematic portfolio construction capabilities and tools. Our investment professionals use the platform to construct portfolios, monitor and review their portfolios, and to make investment decisions. You will collaborate with the Product Management team, senior investment professionals, and technology associates to create and implement detailed quality technical designs for mission critical and complex applications using existing and emerging technology platforms.

In this role, you will lead a team of 30+ Solution Engineers and Solution Engineering Managers and be responsible for their coaching and professional development. You are a player-coach, passionate about our mission, and committed to driving superior long-term investment results through the application of modern engineering and data management methods. You possess a solid understanding of management science and principles.

  • You have a bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • You are a people leader, capable of leading a team of engineers and engineering managers while developing and mentoring individuals on the team.
  • You encourage your team to be effective and efficient through a metrics-driven analytical approach.
  • You are a hands-on manager, architecting, designing, and guiding your team members, and have the technical ability to provide feedback in design reviews and code reviews.
  • You have significant experience running business critical business capabilities effectively.
  • You can seamlessly partner with Product, business users, Architecture, Enterprise Data Office, and other technology teams.
  • You consistently reinforce company and organizational values, think and plan strategically, lead the definition of your team's culture, and drive team execution.
  • You lead through influence while driving cross-organizational initiatives and not through direction.


Qualifications:
  • You have extensive prior experience as a software engineer, with a solid understanding of software engineering best practices (e.g. Agile software development, test-driven development, unit testing, code reviews, design documentation, etc.)
  • You are an experienced manager of solution engineers (5+ years) preferably with experience leading multiple teams through other managers.
  • You have a sound foundation in Computer Science fundamentals including distributed systems design, data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis.
  • You are passionate about management, leadership, and management science.
  • You possess the business acumen and the ability to communicate effectively with your team, distributed teams, and with the leadership team.
  • You are highly experienced in developing solutions with an emphasis on scale and resiliency.
  • You have prior experience and knowledge of the following:
    • Design patterns including distributed systems design and OOD.
    • Data stores, SQL and No-SQL preferred.
    • AWS services (S3, containers - ECS & EKS, Lambda) preferred.
  • Prior experience in using quantitative models and equity portfolio construction preferred.


Southern California Base Salary Range: $193,464-$328,889

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
