Job Description:

The Westchester Educational Opportunity Center (WEOC), a division of Westchester Community College, is seeking experienced, energetic, innovative, results oriented professionals to join its team. Located in Yonkers, NY, this non-traditional adult education institution provides tuition-free academic and vocational training to eligible underserved adults seeking to develop basic academic and vocational skills competencies and credentials needed for enrollment in college and/or entry into the workforce. 

Seeking energetic and engaging Adjunct Faculty to teach Human Relations in Spanish to students enrolled in the Home Health Aide (HHA) program. The incumbent(s) will communicate in English with WEOC's RN Director Coordinator on teaching expectations and course content. The incumbent(s) will deliver, in Spanish, a curriculum that includes fundamental elements of human relations and its importance both in personal living and on the job with special emphasis on personal awareness, attitudes and behavior patterns with respect to racial, cultural and social conflicts and interactions, and intelligent decision-making and stress management. The incumbent(s) will facilitate the development of critical thinking and be available to answer student questions in Spanish.  The incumbent(s) will also evaluate students' work and provide written and verbal feedback in Spanish. Successful candidates must demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of a diverse population and have the ability to work effectively with students who have barriers to employment.  Classes may be offered days or evenings.


Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  The successful candidate must possess a minimum of a Master's Degree in Human Relations or a related field from a recognized college or university with one year of practical experience in that field. The successful candidates must be able to read, write, and speak in both English and Spanish.  The ability to establish a rapport with students and maintain an environment that supports learning and promotes student retention, experience teaching remotely, and experience using an LMS are also required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience teaching adult learners and at-risk populations strongly preferred. Highly organized and detail oriented candidates also strongly preferred.

 POSITION EFFECTIVE: Fall 2023

SALARY & BENEFITS: $82.57 per hour. No benefits. This position is fully granted funded.
