Marketing Data Engineer

Job Summary

The Marketing Data Engineer plays a critical role in AMC's Guest Analytics and Insights team by managing and optimizing data-related processes and infrastructure to enable data-driven decision-making. This person will be responsible for prototyping the design, development and maintenance of data pipelines, databases, and data infrastructure that support guest and marketing analytics, reporting and campaign optimization efforts. This role is essential in ensuring that marketing teams have access to high-quality, timely, and actionable data for their campaigns and initiatives. They will also drive the organization toward real-time personalization via messaging and channel preferences.

This position is based in Leawood, KS and is not eligible for relocation.

What you will do:

  • Collaborate with marketing teams to understand their data requirements and provide support in creating dashboards, reports, and data visualizations.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools for data-related tasks such as data extraction, data loading and data transformation.
  • Design and implement data pipelines to collect, process and transform data from various sources ensuring pipelines are efficient, scalable, and reliable.
  • Integrate data from multiple sources to create a unified and comprehensive view of customer and marketing data.
  • Develop ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to cleanse and prepare data for analysis.
  • Serve as Guest Analytics and Insights' main point of contact to IT data teams ensuring integrity of prototypes during implementation.
  • Attend weekly IT status meetings and review documentation.
  • Document marketing data engineering processes, workflows, and data structures.
  • Provide training and guidance to marketing analysts and managers on how to access and use marketing data effectively.
  • Provide support to marketing teams by executing marketing operations, reporting and data visualizations.

What we need from you:
  • 5+ years of experience automating marketing processes.
  • Expert knowledge of SQL, Python, and Azure data platform.
  • Experience working with customer data and understanding of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
  • Experience in B2C, retail-oriented industries with high velocity and scale, such as eCommerce, hospitality/travel, entertainment, retail.
  • Knowledge of marketing data and tools such as CRM systems, advertising platforms, website analytics tools and more.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand business objectives and translate them into data requirements and actionable insights, with a focus on driving business value through data-driven strategies.
  • Attention to detail and strong commitment to data accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with both marketing and IT stakeholders.
  • Action-oriented problem solver with demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve issues quickly.
  • Demonstrated reliability as a partner, adept at collaborating with internal teams to understand project objectives and offer effective solutions.

What we also value (preferred):
  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing, data science or a related field.
  • Master's Degree.
  • Experience with Tableau.
  • Relevant certifications in data engineering, data science, or cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate, Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer).
  • Knowledge of the movie industry and exhibitor space.
  • Strong guest-centric understanding of each stage of the movie-going experience.
  • Continuous learning mindset with a keen critical eye that stays current on customers and technologies.
  • Demonstrated resilience with the ability to thrive in a changing business environment.
