Job Summary Maricopa Community Colleges District Office has an exciting opportunity to start a fiscal career with our Controller's Office as a Fiscal Technician! The Fiscal Technician performs a variety of fiscal record keeping transactions, data entry, and assists with reporting for all Maricopa Community Colleges. This opportunity provides customer service support to students regarding 1098-T forms and performs collections such as setting up payment plans, posting payments, and verifying student accounts. The Fiscal Technician also supports staff and student general collections questions and inquiries to ensure a positive student experience. Essential Functions 30% - Responds to general inquiries from students and colleges; assists students with repayment agreements and delinquent accounts, and 1098-T inquiries. 25% - Researches student accounts and provides documentation to collection agencies. 20% - Processes and posts direct payments from students and direct payment files from various agencies. 15% - Retrieves information and enters/updates information in reports, logs or other record keeping-systems; prepares journal entries; maintains files and records. 10% - Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED and one (1) year of related fiscal support experience. There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED. Desired Qualifications A. Associate's Degree B. Two (2) or more years of experience providing customer service and/or receiving payments in fast paced, high volume call-center environment, preferably in an educational setting. C. One (1) or more years of experience with Student Information System (SIS); Oracle PeopleSoft applications such as Financial Management System (FMS). D. Two (2) or more years of experience providing support in student Financial Aid Programs such as Title VI Programs. E. Proficient experience using Microsoft Excel and Word Special Working Conditions May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time viewing a computer monitor(s). May require fielding a large number of customer service telephone calls with long periods of time on the telephone. May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs.
