Job Summary:

Provides leadership and direction as well as the day-to-day work schedule for the team of designers to ensure project objectives are met based on project scope of work and that quantity and quality of work output meets expectations. Plans, manages, and coordinates the resource needs for the design, development, and opening of La Z Boy locations in accordance with PM inputs related to budget, project timeline and scope. Responsible for understanding the key Store Merchandising project processes, procedures and store models to ensure consistent and accurate documentation of processes. Plans and coordinates the execution of market showroom Merchandise Point of View requirements and deliverables to High Point Showroom Manager and Merchandising stakeholders. Ensures the Showroom reflects our brand image and delivers an inspirational shopping environment to our customers.

Job Description:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creates master schedules for execution of all store projects and those of a special nature based on PM inputs, including project prioritization, design team's work schedule, other resource utilization, and travel.
  • Compiles all necessary information based on market showrooms and/or retail space projects stated needs by developing the Scope of Work for complete project execution by design team. This entails collection of project requirements, executing project review, preparation of store documentation and drawings meeting the company' standards.
  • Performs on site work in retail stores, leading the interior design team to facilitate and manage execution of key deliverables to ensure that all deliverables meet expectations.
  • Establish and maintain standard task allocation times related to store project execution and other key Store Merchandising responsibilities to be carried out by the design team to see stores through from inception to opening assuring the most efficient and effective execution of deliverables.
  • Responsible for the quality and accuracy of the La-Z-Boy interior prototype drawing set and specifications as well as checklists and standards used by team; acting as continuous process improvement manager for the La-Z-Boy store programs and all related tools to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and effective team execution.
  • Responsible for clear, consistent information transfer between team Project Managers and Designers.
  • Oversee Preferred Vendor program development and execution needs as well as specific tasks related to designer area of specialization to assure timely, consistent, and accurate results.
  • With aesthetic guidance from Merchandising leadership and the Product Design Team, design and implement captivating visual displays that highlight the features and benefits of our home furnishings.
  • Utilize creative techniques to arrange furniture, decor, and accessories to create inspiring and aspirational spaces.
  • Stay updated on design trends and incorporate them into the showroom displays to keep our offerings fresh and appealing.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to align visual displays with promotional campaigns and overall brand messaging.
  • Provide documentation, training and guidance on merchandising techniques to business partners.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages creativity and teamwork.
SCOPE & IMPACT:

Responsible for leading, coaching and developing a team of interior designers and specialists focusing on quality work deliverables, efficient processes and successful resource management allowing for effective and satisfactory project (up to 70 per year) output with the average project cost of $750K to $1.5 million per location. Provides key inputs related to La-Z-Boy market showroom (approx. 60K sq ft) and overall budget information to relevant internal and external parties. The results have direct impact on project cost requiring keen attention to details and potential issues due to the financial implications of missed sales to both dealers and LZB if deadlines are missed, errors made.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Visual Merchandising, Showroom Management or related field with 4-6 years of relevant experience
  • 3-5 years of supervisory/leadership experience
*Competency in planning and tracking *Ability to support multiple projects, prioritize competing demands and apply risk mitigation to get back on track require. *Strong negotiation skills.
  • Strong ability to tailor communications style to multiple audiences
  • AutoCAD, Photoshop, PowerPoint
  • Strong creative and artistic skills with a passion for creating visually appealing displays.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively manage a team.
  • Knowledge of current design trends and a keen eye for aesthetics.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Travel Required: Up to 35%
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
  • Microsoft Project
  • Familiarity with construction costing

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Up to 10 Direct Reports

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: Operates in a professional office environment as well as inside and outside environmental conditions. Often required to sit, use repetitive hand motion, hear, listen, talk, stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb stairs, climb ladders, kneel, squat, crouch, balance, reach overhead, pull, push, and lift up to 30 pounds.
