About the role

Reporting to the Facility Manager, the Heavy Equipment/Industrial Mechanicperforms ongoing facility maintenance and completes repairs on equipment such as front-end loaders, track hoes, conveyers, etc.

Primary duties

  • Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, procedures and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on plant and processing equipment; maintain records of maintenance work done on equipment; disconnect equipment prior to removal.
  • Performs corrective maintenance on plant equipment and process systems such as partreplacement, equipment changes, cleaning of tanks and basins.
  • Inspects, operates, calibrates, and repairs shredder processing equipment, conveyors, pumps, valves, air compressors, meters, equipment control panels, programmable controllers, emergency generators, forklifts, excavators skid steer loaders and other facility equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems with industrial-type mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment; performs a variety of electrical tests, understands, reads and uses blueprints, ladder diagrams, construction and mechanical drawings to isolate and correct problems.
  • Lubricates processing equipment and conveyors; replaces mechanical bearings and seals and other worn or damaged parts on shredders and conveyors.
  • Uses and maintains a variety of hand tools, power tools, electrical testing devices and hoisting equipment.
  • Plans for and develops annual outage plans; orders necessary equipment and parts; coordinates subcontract personnel as required.
  • Competently and effectively operates a forklift, excavator, and skid steer loader.
  • Maintains tools, vehicles, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe condition; winterizes equipment.

GeneralRequirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalency or 5 years verifiable experience in maintenance
  • Experience with maintenance on heavy equipment
  • Industrial maintenance experience
  • Clean driving record and valid state issued Driver's License.
  • Has variety of tools and toolbox.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform strenuous physical activity.
  • Requires standing and lifting up to fifty pounds. Position may also include carrying, walking, grasping, reaching, and crawling.
  • Ability to wear & use PPE and respiratory protection equipment to include level B and C
  • Abide by respirator fit policies
  • Ability to work in both hot (>90 F and cold <32 F) environments for extended periods of time.
  • Fit for duty to include being clean shaven when required.
