Position Summary
This position is for the lead scientist for the metabolomics component of our recently funded Network of Advanced NMR ( NAN: NSF, $40M award). In this role, employee will be developing and implementing metabolomics protocols for NAN users as well as providing service to users who need assistance. The UGA office of research recognized this need when they committed 5 years of support for a PhD scientist to assist NAN users.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
This position has a degree in biological or biomedical sciences or a related field with extensive training in NMR spectroscopy and metabolomics. Experience applying NMR metabolomics.

Establish a metabolomics knowledgebase for NAN that will include the following components:
a. Robust testing, parameter setting, and documentation of NMR pulse sequences for metabolomics. (5% effort)
b. Establishment of metabolomics protocols for sample preparation, data collection, and data analysis for the most common materials (e.g. plasma or serum, urine, and other cells or organisms according to user need). (10% effort)
c. Collaboration with other NAN developers in other knowledgebases, metadata capture, and NAN user portal development. (5% effort)
