The Department of Animal and Food Sciences in the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month tenure-track Associate/Full Professor of Meat Science in the Mark and Celia Miller Endowed Chair for Teaching Excellence. This endowed chair will ensure the continued excellence of the University's meat science program and support meat science teaching, career development, recruiting, outreach, and meat science competitive teams. In addition to the endowed chair, the position is supported by significant endowment funding for the perpetuity of meat judging at Texas Tech University. Distribution of effort and expectation will be set according to an appointment consisting of 60% teaching, 25% outreach and engagement, and 15% research. Teaching expectations include formal instruction in Livestock and Meat Evaluation I and II, Meat Judging, Advanced Meat Judging, and meat science-related extra credit laboratories in General Animal Science, as well as out-of-class instruction in preparing students for meat judging, animal evaluation and quiz bowl competition. It is expected the successful candidate will develop and perform activities to fulfill outreach and engagement activities. Moreover, the successful candidate is expected to develop a research program commensurate with appointment. In addition to teaching, research, and outreach/engagement appointments, participation in service activities with professional organizations, the department, college, and university, is expected.
