Job Summary

Performs various clerical duties which may include reception, data entry, screening documents for accuracy and completeness, written correspondence, answering phones and e-mail, and researching inquiries on behalf of incarcerated students.

Essential Functions

40% - Provides phone, email and correspondence response to families, students and corrections staff regarding incarcerated student academic pathway, enrollment and progress in individual courses and academic degree or certificate program
15% - Performs various clerical duties which may include reception, data entry, screening documents for accuracy and completeness, written correspondence, answering phones and e-mail, and researching inquiries on behalf of incarcerated students
15% - Utilizes Internet access at home, personal computer with access to internet, video conference and email
10% - Receives inbound calls, returns outbound calls
10% - Uses Student Information System (SIS), Rio Compass, Access Database, Microsoft Office and Excel, Google Mail and Google Docs, Navigating web sites: DOC website, FBP website and other correctional websites
10% - Performs Academic Advising for very specific academic programs available for incarcerated students (AA, AGEC-A, ASD, WFR, SBS, QCS etc.) with some basic understand of pre-requisites for core classes such as Math, English, CRE101, GBS233, and PSY230

Minimum Qualifications

A. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Access Database, Student Information System (SIS), and/or Rio Compass, Navigating DOC
website, FBP website
B. Academic Advising a diverse population of students
C. Access to the internet is necessary, Google Meet, Gmail etc. be able to respond to incoming or respond to voicemail
D. SIS basic navigation is preferable (look up test scores, academic progress, address etc.)
E. Rio Compass Navigation is Preferable (look up academic check sheet, course history, test scores etc.)

Special Working Conditions

Position involves working with incarcerated students located in state, federal, private and federal prison. Students may also be located in State Hospital or juvenile detention facilities.
