Job Summary

Provide excellent customer service to student both in person and by phone. Facilitate workshops; create and give presentations; and provide one-on-one assistance with the FAFSA application and verification process. Positions also provides frontline customer service when needed, as well as track in paperwork required, while checking for accuracy and completeness.

In order to qualify for a Federal Work-Study (FWS) job, a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) must be on file for the current award year and have eligible financial needs based on the college requirements.   • FWS is a need-based, federally funded program.
  • FWS requires the completion of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and confirmation of federal work-study eligibility as determined by the financial aid office.
  • FWS does not directly pay for tuition, and funds are only available to eligible students attending a minimum of six (6) degree applicable hours in a federal student aid eligible program.
  • The FWS award amount is based on your FAFSA results and college funding availability, which will determine the number of hours available to work while supporting the students academic goals.

Essential Functions

60% Assist students one-on-one with the financial aid application/verification process and address any financial aid inquiries
20% Provide frontline customer service when needed, as well as track in required paperwork, while checking for accuracy and completeness
10% Facilitate workshops. Create and give presentations
10% Assist the financial aid office with filing, copying, scanning and working reports

Excellent customer service skills
Strong work ethic and team-player mentality
Self-starter, able to multitask
Pleasant, patient and friendly attitude
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
Highly-developed sense of integrity and commitment to customer satisfaction
Proficient in keyboarding; computer literate

Desired Qualifications

Ability to speak/translate in Spanish and/or in Arabic

Special Working Conditions

This position will also be required to work overtime during peak periods, as needed.
May be required to work evening shifts and prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
May be required to lift or carry up to 20lbs
