Vice President, Strategic Development

The Vice President of Strategic Development must be a strategic and analytical thinker who can investigate the details and interpret the impact of key business drivers on the overall business. The incumbent will report to the company's President and serve in various strategic roles as needed. The successful candidate will have strong influencing and negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively with all internal and external parties. The ideal candidate will have a natural ability to identify and analyze commercial opportunities for ABS, including potential mergers and acquisitions.

What You Will Do:



  • Work with the executive leadership team to develop roadmaps and detailed organic and inorganic growth plans based on ABS' strategy, goals, and objectives.
  • Support the overall business plan success by providing a forward-looking commercial perspective, analysis, monitoring, and corrective action planning to ongoing new business initiatives.
  • Evaluate and manage new strategic business opportunities, initiatives, mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
  • Work closely with the VPs of Finance, Marketing and Communications, and ABS Group senior management to develop business cases, including strategy, financial (revenue, expense, and income), market analyses, modeling, cost savings/synergies, and valuations.
  • Prepare and deliver management-level analyses and recommendations to the executive leadership team.
  • Establish and execute a strategy and process to continually identify and evaluate potential acquisition targets for ABS and ABS Group.
  • Responsible for leading transaction execution activities, including structuring, negotiating, and due diligence.
  • Lead special initiatives for the President of ABS Group Consulting Services.


What You Will Need:

Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science or a related field.
  • MBA is strongly preferred.
  • Mergers and acquisitions experience is strongly preferred to include the ability to thoroughly review a potential deal and make recommendations to executive leadership.
  • 10+ years of experience in maritime, engineering, construction, oil and gas, or energy consulting services fields.
  • Strong commercial acumen coupled with broad business and operations experience.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Ability to explain how changes in competitors, clients, and market segments affect ABS's business.
  • The knowledge to translate broad corporate strategies into clear, specific objectives and plans for business segments.
  • Skilled in driving new business initiatives that drive revenue growth.
  • Demonstrate the highest integrity and sound judgment in business endeavors.
  • Understand the importance of effectively dealing with highly sensitive and confidential information.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with outstanding customer/client relations skills and
  • experience.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to effectively present potential strategic opportunities to executive leadership.


It Would Be Nice If You Had



  • Prior experience with a consulting services organization in a similar role.
  • Transactions experience as it relates to mergers and acquisitions.


Reporting Relationships:

This person would report to the President of ABS Group Consulting and may have direct reports.

Working Conditions:

Work is primarily sedentary, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. The ability to travel, with some overnight trips, is required for this role.
