What you'll be doing...

As a Principle Network Engineer for the Public Sector Federal Aviation Administration Enterprise Network Engineering Services (FENS) engineering team, you will be a network engineer on a multi-discipline team that will deliver and manage the technology roadmap for the FAA infrastructure architecture and Verizon OSS management infrastructure based on Verizon's solutions and services. As a Principle Network Engineer you will have the responsibility ensure that the Verizon FENS solution meets the FAA RMA requirements. You are well versed across multiple technology disciplines to include but not limited to Enterprise Solutions, MPLS, Cyber Security, Managed Services, Voice services, Cisco DMPVN, Wireless (4G and 5G), application performance, IT, Cloud, Enterprise Solutions, and more. You will work in a cross-functional and cross-organizational environment (including Third party partners) to facilitate and deliver the FENS initial and on-going infrastructure solutions for the FAA complex requirements throughout the life-cycle of the FENS program.

You will be focused on the survivability and resiliency integrated architectures for the FAA FENS opportunity. The goal will be to deliver the best technical solutions along with the best customer service. You will need to:

  • Understanding customer business challenges.
  • Developing network solutions and designing the networking to solve the customer need.
  • Provide briefings at various levels.
  • Conduct and build business and cost models based on technical architecture.
  • Identify, own, and drive resolutions to gaps in the deal lifecycle delivery processes.
  • Assess, prioritize, and manage scope of work across various initiatives.
  • Lead and guide internal and external teams with creating and delivering complex, integrated solutions to meet our customer requirements
  • Support the Business Development teams drive revenue for incremental growth

You are an effective and inspiring leader, able to engage and motivate cross functional teams to deliver outstanding performance. You have the business insight and executive presence to establish credibility with executive leaders (e.g., internally, customer, and partners), and guide the growth of a team to deliver on expectations, milestones, and deliverables. You enjoy working in a dynamic environment and can balance contending demands and priorities.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Designing or architecting survivable and resilient mission critical infrastructure.
  • Experience in leading cross functional teams with understanding of how business and technical requirements interweave to create solutions.
  • 5 years experience in documenting technical network designs (i.e., CPE, LAN, WAN, and Access) that include rack elevation, dimensions, power, cooling, and floor configurations.
  • Experience in designing diversity at the CPE, access, and transport level to support mission critical networks.
  • Knowledge of technical product and systems development lifecycle within a large global enterprise environment.
  • Over five years' experience in deploying and implementing telecommunications solutions in the field.
  • Ability to obtain a Government security clearance of Public Trust.
  • Experience in communicating (written and spoken) highly technical, multi-faceted (e.g., network, security, data, application) solutions to customers in a simple, understandable manner.
  • Ability to document designs in formal engineering specification i.e., rack elevations.
  • Highly organized with an ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal communication, organization and project management skills.
  • Experience in two or more technical areas listed:
    • Data and IP Services (MPLS, SIP, internet, VPN, SDN, NFV, SDWAN).
    • Cisco DMVPN.
    • Access Technologies (TDM, Ethernet).
    • Network Operations (Managed Services for WLAN, LAN, WAN, IP PBX, Automation/Orchestration).
    • Security (DDOS, FW, IDS, WAF, DDI, SIEM, Analytics, Micro-segmentation).
    • Wireless technologies (IoT).
    • Wide area networking, routing protocols, and VPN design.

Even Better if you have:

  • Master's Degree in a technical or business area.
  • Five or more years of successful experience with strategic solutions and/or systems integration design and solutions selling experience (consultative solutions selling).
  • Communication, organization, and negotiation skills with the ability to successfully work multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Public Sector Domain Experience to include both Federal and Department of Defense contract and procurement experience.
  • Experience in the Aviation industry.
