Congenital Heart Program Nurse Coordinator

Description The congenital heart program nurse coordinator will provide access toi ndividualized care for congenital heart patients in need of surgery and intervention under the direction of the Chief of Congenital Surgery and Manager and in collaboration with UCLA cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, and themultidisciplinary team. The outreach coordinator would have an advanced understanding of congenital heart disease and thecritical care management of these patients.
Additional responsibilities include communicating with insurance companies and financial counselors, individualizing patient/family teaching, development of educational materials and programs for patients, nursing staff and physicians; development of clinical protocols, policies and procedures for throughput of referred patients; community education and public relations.
Salary range: $60.79-$91.97 Hourly
Qualifications BLS from the ARC or AHA, required
Current valid CA RN license, required
BSN or MSN, required
2 years of relevant RN experience with critical care management experience with complex cardiac disease, advanced cardiac surgeries, and ventricular assist devices, required
Advanced knowledge of congenital cardiac anatomy and physiology along with ability to identify cardiopulmonary pathophysiology dysfunctions including those involved with complex adult congenital heart disease, preferred
Ability to work with Community Cardiology Clinics to increase patient access to the UCLA Congenital Heart Program
Ability to work with referring physician practices and hospitals in the vicinity of UCLA Congenital Heart Program to increase referral base and provide access to new and existing patients (required).
Ability to develop protocols, procedures, and workflows to optimize the internal and external referral processes from initial referral point of contact to post treatment notification of referring physician and patient follow-up for congenital heart patient evaluations
Ability to lift packages and patient charts up to 25 pounds for distances to 10 feet.
