Hours:

Rotating Shifts, Days: 6:00 am - 4:30 pm for two weeks then Nights 6:00 pm - 4:30 am for two weeks

$18.91/hr

Within our Environmental Solutions and Services Team, we work with many clients to retrieve and dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials. Whenever possible, we will recycle these materials. Materials that cannot be recycled will be disposed of properly to ensure future generations' have a safe and healthy environment.

Veolia's Trade Waste Incineration facility is looking for qualified Material Handlers to join our team. We are a like minded team focused on safety, environmental compliance, customer service and operational excellence. Our local Sauget, IL operations has been in existence for 30+ years and has continued to provide career progression opportunities (pay rates over $30.00/hr) for those looking to work in a team environment where safety, innovation and operational excellence commitments are recognized.

During a typical day a Material Handler might:

  • Stage all necessary materials for processing and repackaging waste for the incinerator.

  • Suit up with proper personal protective equipment and other necessary equipment for environmental protection.

  • Break down and extract waste materials from various vendor containers and consolidate them into a mixing pan.

  • Process materials into various combinations of solids, mixes, and slurries and packages per process plan.

  • Record all material processed to maintain in-process inventory data using electronic scanning devices.

  • Shrink-wrap charges; move to incinerator dock using a forklift.

  • Dump waste hoppers, clean the process area and maintain cleanliness around the department.

  • Change out air supply banks (provides clean air source for personal protective suits) as required.

  • Maintain a complete inventory of personal protection equipment and other departmental supplies.

  • Communicate with the lead person and on-coming shift crews as required.

* High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required

Certification/Licenses:


* 24-Hour/40-Hour HAZWOPER training preferred, but not required


* Forklift license preferred, but not required
