Fireworks Production Supervisor

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must have at least three (3) years of experience in a supervisor position in a manufacturing or Packing/Shipping production environment.

2. Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification required OR the ability to obtain within one year of employment and maintain certification and demonstrate proficiency in that capacity.

3. Background experience in Root Cause Analysis strongly helpful.

4. Background experience in Continuous Improvement strongly helpful.

5. Background experience in Lean Manufacturing strongly helpful.

6. Must be able to receive clearance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE).

7. Must have good written and oral communication skills.

8. Must possess valid driver's license.

9. Must have computer skills and be able to create documents in Microsoft Excel with formulas.

10. Must be able to work well with others and motivate employees.

11. Be able to work well under the pressure of ensuring that requirements and specifications are met.

12. Background in International Organization for Standardization (ISO) preferred.

13. Must learn and follow BATFE compliance regulations.

14. Must learn and follow Department of Transportation (DoT) compliance regulations for packing and shipping finished product. 15. Be able to work all overtime as required. Late evening, weekend and last-minute overtime can be expected during and immediately following Fireworks season, but not limited to the time period of May through August.

JOB DUTIES:

1. Supervise Assistant Supervisor, Team Leaders, and Handlers in assigned department. 2. Schedule staffing and approve vacation to provide necessary coverage.

3. Approve department's Weekly Time Sheets. Review and approve all requests for Vacation / Personal days for staff. Review attendance and accrual information with staff as needed.

4. Ensure through staff that the manufacturing process and product meet quality requirements by performing inspections, and audits of processes and materials.

5. Oversee that all associates are properly trained and maintain training matrices per line and associate.

6. Ensure operators are cross training within the department whenever necessary to ensure no interruption in production due to lack of trained employees.

7. Perform hands on training with Handlers for all Show Programming tasks.

8. Provide training and aid to new personnel for the safe and efficient use of equipment and machinery.

9. Provide hands on assistance for department to meet all production schedules.

10. Report daily and weekly production status to upper management.

11. Must read and ensure compliance with contract requirements.

12. Ensure department is in compliance with ISO requirements.

13. Ensure department is in compliance with BATFE and DoT requirements.

14. Will participate in development of Hazards Analysis.

15. Responsible for writing procedures for production line, creating and maintaining required department forms and schedules

16. Must be actively involved and working closely with the Inventory/Logistics & Fireworks Operations Director for the planning, coordination, shipping schedules and control of show packing processes.

17. Actively responsible for both human and material resources by communicating concerns and needs to the Inventory/Logistics & Fireworks Operations Director.

18. Understand and follow production processes and communicate to the Inventory/Logistics & Fireworks Operations Director for adjusting schedules as needed to meet Company goals and objectives. Ensure production employees understand daily, weekly, and monthly goals.

19. Ensure a smooth production flow to complete production goals and meet contract requirements.

20. Notify Inventory/Logistics & Fireworks Operations Director of any potential bottlenecks to production flow that would impede flow and cause production delays.

21. Perform hands on functions throughout the show packing processes as needed to assist in meeting shipping schedule.

22. Ensure production employees have the necessary tools, equipment, forms, procedures, etc. to maintain production flow to avoid double handling and shutting down workstations. Communicate any potential concern to the Inventory/Logistics & Fireworks Operations Director.

23. Ensure department bays are stocked with daily supplies and recovering supplies from the warehouse when needed.

24. Assist with clearing bays of finished goods and restocking with the next production workload.

25. Ensure bays are not overloaded per company procedures and bay limits.

26. Review and ensure accuracy of all department's paperwork. Ensure all documents are accurately completed by production employees prior to submission.

27. Review of all shop floor entries in the ERP system from Handlers and approve for accuracy.

28. Ensure all production tasks have clear and concise written instructions provided to production employees.

29. Report to the Inventory/Logistics & Fireworks Operations Director any problems experienced on the production lines.

30. Work with the Safety and Training Manager, or designee to coordinate and prepare for maintenance work and Preventive Maintenance (PM's) as scheduled.

31. Work with Inventory/Logistics & Fireworks Operations Director to alter scheduled hours as required for peak season and off season show schedule.

32. Work hand in hand with Material Handler/Magazine Compliance Supervisor and Inventory Systems Supervisor for inventory and shipping needs that correspond with Fireworks production and show packing.

33. Participate in performance, research and development, and incoming testing of finished good fireworks as instructed by the Inventory/Logistics & Fireworks Operations Director.

34. Participate and provide additional staffing to participate in finished good fireworks testing as needed and prepared to work late evenings to perform testing as necessary.

35. Must be safety focused ensuring health and safety guidelines are followed. Responsible for the safety of all employees, equipment, and facility. Monitor employees to ensure compliance with safety rules.

36. Perform periodic safety audits to recognize hazards that affect employee safety.

37. Work with the Training Supervisor to identify training needs.

38. Remain current on new and improved manufacturing and supervisory techniques and methods and ensure staff is properly trained.

39. Apply the appropriate corrective action to non-conforming situations.

40. Must be committed to ISO and the company's Quality Management System using process approach and risk-based thinking methodologies.

41. Ensure the Quality Policy and quality objectives are communicated to direct report employees.

42. Shares accountability for the effectiveness of the Quality Management System.

43. Participate in Yearly Management Review of all ISO documentation as scheduled.

44. Complete and administer scheduled Performance Reviews for direct reporting staff.

45. Participate in Safety Meetings held for employees. Assist with presentation as necessary.

46. Responsible for ensuring correct revisions of forms, procedures, etc. are available and being used. Responsible for destroying all old form revisions when new revisions are released and submitting old procedure revisions to the Management Assistant/Document Control Coordinator.

49. Ensure all necessary information is conveyed to Human Resource Department in a timely manner as it relates to department.

50. Participate in on-going training and education as directed by the Inventory/Logistics & Fireworks Operations Director.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must be able to stand or walk for 8 to 12 hours per shift.

2. Must be able to lift 45-65 lbs. on occasion, using assistance of transportation equipment when necessary.
