Application Window Open date: November 3, 2022 Most recent review date: Monday, Mar 20, 2023 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Friday, May 3, 2024 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description Specialist Position- Susa Lab The Susa lab is starting the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at UCSF and is seeking applicants for a research technician position using structural biology, membrane protein biochemistry, cell biology, and protein engineering to understand fundamental mechanisms of transmembrane signaling within the human immune system. Our work will focus on B cells, one of the major components of the adaptive immune system, that generate neutralizing antibodies to foreign agents. Projects include: 1) developing new tools to identify and characterize novel regulators of early B cell signaling, 2) structurally characterizing B cell receptor and co-receptor complexes to elucidate how the strength of B cell signaling is regulated, and 3) engineering cell-state-specific, modulatory antibodies that selectively target certain B cell subsets. The successful applicant will work closely with Dr. Susa to learn necessary skills and techniques and then work independently and together with other members of the lab.
