Job Description

Under the direction of the IR Lab manager, The IR Technologist assists and performs angiographic and interventional procedures under the guidance of the physician. This person performs a variety of complex specialized tasks eminent in operating radiologic equipment and to aid in the performance of vascular, cardiac, neuroradiology, angiographic, diagnostic and interventional procedures. Assist radiologist, cardiologist and/or vascular surgeon during procedure to include handling of instruments, operating and monitoring equipment, calling out equipment readings, alerting physician to changes in patient condition. Provides quality care to patients receiving diagnostic and interventional radiologic and cardiac procedures. These imaging examinations are in multiple settings. Functions as the first line interface with customers in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs.

The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Graduate of an accredited, AMA approved, school of Radiology Technology.
  • Prior experience in a hospital setting preferred
  • Active certification in Radiology Technology (ARRT-R)
  • Florida State License in Radiology Technology, or confirmed temporary license
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
  • NIH within 90 days of employment/transfer
  • Must be able to multi task daily. Knowledge of sterile technique
  • Possesses knowledge of filing systems, telephone etiquette and customer service
  • Computer skills, medical terminology preferred
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and effectively communicate with patients, physicians, and team members.
