Business Manager (Remote)

Responsibilities The Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior is seeking to hire a full-time Business Manager to join the UCLA TIES (Training, Intervention, Education, and Services) for Families. UCLA TIES for Families is an interdisciplinary program in LA County dedicated to optimizing the growth and development of foster/adoptive children from birth to age 25 and their families. You will serve as the center administrator and fiscal analyst for the program. You will play a large role in ensuring fidelity and program requirements are met for contracts with the Department of Mental Health (DMH). Primary duties include:
- Management of multiple project grants and contracts
- Monitoring budgets and data collection for required reports
- Conducting statistical analysis to provide conclusions or recommendations
- Acting as program liaison to the University and the projects funding agencies
- Overseeing time sheet submission procedure and preparing personnel forms
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business, economics, accounting, mathematics, or related field
Extensive knowledge and ability to navigate local and state agencies including LA County DMH, LA County DCFS, Southern California Regional Centers, University Compliance Office, University Legal (preferred)
Knowledge of billing requirements and mental health coding rules pertinent to billing, compliance, and privacy to oversee billing submission to Medi-cal and private health insurance companies (preferred)
Analytical skills to assess personnel and financial information practices and procedures, define problems, formulate logical solutions, develop alternative solutions, make recommendations and initiate corrective actions
Demonstrated experience with various University systems including BruinBuy, Travel Express, submitting FSRs, TSRs, University time reporting, IT requests (preferred)
Working knowledge of the Electronic Data Interchange Production Claim cycle & Medi-Cal Claim Validation process to ensure accurate and timely billing (preferred)
Experience in healthcare management or nonprofit management in fiscal/financial analysis or accounting (preferred)
Working knowledge in data analysis and/or visualization tools, strong skills in accounting practices and Excel (preferred)
Ability to report complex analytical reports and findings to the Executive Director and periodically present outcomes to staff verbally in a small group setting.
Skill in teaching, supervising, and motivating staff members, while fostering a positive work environment to attain expressed program goals within a demanding environment.
Strong organizational skills to perform a variety of tasks independently with minimal direction in a timely matter under conditions of a fluctuating workload, competing requirements and changing deadlines and priorities.
Mathematical skills and knowledge to cost project to perform various accounting transactions for the preparation of complex cost reports, other financial reports, and cost projection
Demonstrated ability to write detailed, step-by-step instructions and/or narratives to describe complex processes and procedures in simple, descriptive language
Demonstrated ability to compose clear, concise, and grammatically correct correspondence, reports, memos, emails, and other forms of written communication to University and LA County executives, staff, and subordinates.
Familiarity with University, federal, state, private, and non-profit funding agencies 'guidelines and policies relevant to DMH contractual policy, compliance, cost allocation, and reimbursement (preferred)
